Flagstaff Weddings & Why We Love Them

For this post, I had Arizona residents in mind but it will be helpful for anyone looking to get married in a unique setting of Arizona. Oftentimes, living full time in the desert can make you feel like you need to get away to celebrate your nuptials. Arizona is actually one of the only places in the US that offers vastly different types of geography within hours from one another. So if traveling far isn’t an option, that “get-away” wedding is more doable than you might think with Flagstaff weddings.

First and foremost let’s talk about the weather in Flagstaff. How different it is from Phoenix! Most people just think of HOT when they think of AZ. While this is pretty accurate, so are cool temps, rain, and snow! Flagstaff averages about 30 degrees cooler than Phoenix throughout the year, providing year-round outdoor options for weddings. This is great news for couples who want to get married in the summer but who want to avoid those triple-digit temps. Not only that, but the lush pine forests offer lots of shade and gorgeous scenery to keep you cool. Wanting a snowy backdrop? Flagstaff typically has wonderful, fluffy snow in the winter that is sure to please any winter bride.

Flagstaff Ranch is home to a clubhouse that has the look and feel of an upscale lodge. Floor to ceiling windows give you breathtaking views of the San Francisco Peaks, while nestled among a forest of Ponderosa Pines. The landscape of this property is immaculate. Everything from lush lawns, a sparkling lake, manicured golf course, and a community center that includes a fitness center, pool, outdoor grills, tennis, pickleball, and more. It’s everything you need in a perfect, Flagstaff package.

So what is there to do in Flagstaff? Flagstaff weddings will have guests looking for things to do during their “off-time”. Flag (as we locals call it) is known for lots of outdoor activity. There is hiking for all levels, biking, and lakes to swim in and if you need some help, many guided tours. Downtown Flagstaff offers delicious local eateries that are famously known for many Arizonans. I highly recommend Pizzicleta! If you’re lucky enough to be in town for a winter wedding, Arizona Snowbowl is the place to be for a day of skiing and snowboarding. Don’t worry, during summer you can still ride the chair lift for a bird’s eye view of the mountains.

Flagstaff is super easy to get to, as well. Only a short, 2.5-hour drive from Phoenix up I-17 will get you from desert to forest in no time. My family and I love driving to Flag any time of the year!
